Services

At Kyle Animal Hospital, preventive health care is one of our
primary concerns. Regular, comprehensive examinations,
proper vaccines, prophylactic medications (heartworm
prevention), and routine blood screenings are all part of
keeping your pet as healthy as possible.

Comprehensive Examinations

Regular, thorough examinations are essential to maintaining
excellent health. Every pet receives a thorough physical exam,
and you will be given an exam room report card detailing
physical exam findings. We schedule 45 minute time slots for
routine visits. This is the longest in the area, and we believe
this time is vital to perform proper exams and communicate
effectively with you.

Vaccinations

Recognizing that each pet has its own individual lifestyle and
diasease risk, we customize our vaccine protocols
appropriately. There is no such thing as a "proper" vaccine
protocol for all pets. Many factors must be weighed in deciding
a proper vaccine protocol for your pet. Age, lifestyle,
interaction with other animals, etc. are all a part of this.
Evaluating each pet independently takes time, but we believe it
is vitally important to avoid over or under vaccination. Cornell
University has a very good discussion on the risks and
benefits of vaccines, follow this link to their vaccination page.

Medications

Proper prophylactic medications are vital to preventing
disease. Some of these parasites are transmissable to
humans, with some causing very serious diseases such as
blindness. We have a wide selection of the very best
heartworm, flea, and intestinal parasite preventives. These
parasites are preventable with the proper medications.

Blood Screenings

Just as our doctor uses the information from blood screenings
to "see" inside our bodies, blood tests are vitally important for
our pets. We have in-house laboratory equipment when
needed, but also utilize several outside labs when necessary.
Pre-anesthetic profiles, routine heartworm screens, and senior
health profiles are very important to catch diseases before
they become serious.

Caring for Older Pets

It was once thought that the common problems of "old age" in
pets were inevitable. Now we know that many of a senior pet's
problems can be eased with modern medicine if diagnosed
early. We have a comprehensive senior health program in
place that includes wellness testing and behavior monitoring
to pick up mental changes as a pet ages. These programs are
designed to assist your older pet in its senior years.

Ancillary Services

At Kyle Animal Hospital we offer limited grooming such as
bathing, flea treatments, nail & tooth trims and, for our winged
pets, beak and nail trims.

Boarding is also available. We can take care of cats, dogs,
ferrets, and even birds and pocket pets (if a cage is supplied)

We can also microchip your pets so they can be identified
even when they are without a collar

Surgery

Nothing can be as nerve wracking as leaving your pet at the
doctor's office for surgery or other procedures. You can rest
assured that your pets are well kept the entire time they are in
our care. Our anesthetic and surgical protocols are the safest,
most modern available. All of our patients undergoing general
anesthesia have an IV catheter placed in case of emergency.
We recognize that pets feel pain and discomfort after a medical
procedure just as we do, so that's why our care doesn't stop
after the procedure is over. We have comprehensive pain
management programs in place after every surgery. This often
includes not only injections while they are in our care, but also
a few day's worth of analgesics to help them while they are at
home

Laboratory

Kyle Animal Hospital is proud to have on site a wide range of
diagnostic testing equipment. We recently upgraded all of our
in house diagnostic equipment. We are the only area practice
to be fully equipped with hematology, chemistry, coagulation,
digital tonometry, EKG, and radiology equipment. The results
of most diagnostic work can be ready in a few minutes, while
you wait. This is especially important when a pet is ill or if
wellness testing is elected before surgery. We also utilize a
wide array of outside laboratories when necessary. In most
cases our turnaround is less than 48 hours.

Radiology

Our radiology suite features the latest in high frequency
technology. This unit allows us to take better images while
delivering less radiation to patients, staff, and the environment.

In addition, we are fully equipped to digitalize your pet's X-Ray
images, and send them electronically to a board-certified
radiologist for review. There is a nominal additional
professional fee for this service, but we highly recommend it
for all cases.

Specialty Referrals

We do not hesitate to make referral recommendations when it
benefits your pet. We can refer to many specialty hospitals in
Austin, San Antonio, College Station, and Houston. We are
equipped to handle almost any case here, but if your specific
case warrants referral you can rest assured that it will be
discussed with you.

Preventive Care

We offer 45 minute appointment times for standard exams.
This allows our entire staff to have the time necessary to fully
evaluate your pet, both physically and behaviorally. It also
allows us the time to communicate effectively with you, the
owner, and answer any questions you may have. We have
comprehensive exam, diagnostic, and behavior protocols in
place for your pet from pediatrics to senior care. Our vaccines
are the safest, most effective available, and we have many
different options for flea and heartworm prevention.
